CBWD

Our Warranties

At CBWD, we stand behind the products we distribute. As a wholesale battery and power solutions partner, we know your reputation depends on the reliability of what you install and sell. Our warranty policy is designed to be clear, consistent, and fair, while aligning with the terms set by our manufacturing partners across Canada.

Our Warranty Commitment

When you purchase from CBWD, you benefit from:

  • Access to manufacturer-backed limited warranties on eligible products

  • Transparent terms outlined in product documentation and on your invoice

  • Practical support from our team in evaluating warranty claims

  • A focus on fair, timely resolutions so you can keep serving your customers

We treat each warranty claim as an opportunity to protect your reputation and ours.

Continuity of Warranty

If a product is replaced under warranty:

  • The original warranty period does not restart

  • Coverage continues from the original purchase date

  • Any replacement product is covered only for the remaining balance of the original term

This applies unless otherwise specified in the manufacturer’s written policy.

Before Requesting Warranty Service

Before submitting a claim, we recommend you:

  • Review the product manual and warranty documentation

  • Confirm that the product has been installed, used, and maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions

  • Check for common issues such as incorrect wiring, improper charging, or unsuitable operating conditions

These steps often resolve performance issues and help ensure that valid claims are processed more quickly.

Limits of Liability

CBWD and the manufacturer are not responsible for:

  • Damage to equipment in which the product was installed

  • Loss of time, business interruption, or loss of profits

  • Rental, service, or transportation costs related to downtime

  • Any incidental, indirect, or consequential damages

Our responsibility is limited to the repair or replacement of the product, in accordance with the applicable warranty terms.

Repair or Replacement

For products deemed eligible under warranty:

  • The item may be repaired or replaced at the discretion of CBWD and/or the manufacturer

  • If the original model is no longer available, a comparable or equivalent product may be provided

  • Any resolution will not exceed the original purchase value of the product

All evaluations follow the manufacturer’s testing procedures and guidelines.

Proof of Purchase

To process a warranty claim, you will be asked to provide:

  • The original invoice or a clear copy

  • Product details and, where applicable, serial or batch numbers

  • Any additional information requested to support the evaluation (test results, installation details, etc.)

Claims may be delayed or denied if proof of purchase is missing or incomplete.

Returns of New Merchandise

If you wish to return new, unused merchandise that is not defective:

  • All returns must be pre-approved by CBWD

  • Returns may be subject to a restocking fee

  • Products must be in resalable condition, with original packaging and accessories intact

  • Special-order or custom products may be non-returnable

Please refer to your account terms or contact your CBWD representative for details on return conditions.

Installation Fees

Warranty coverage generally applies to the product only, not to services.

  • Installation, removal, diagnostics, and related labour charges are typically not covered under product warranties

  • If installation was performed as a separate service, any warranty on that work is governed by the installer’s own policies

Always review your service agreements and invoices for specific information.

Product Category Warranty Guidelines

Different product categories may have specific conditions, limitations, or exclusions. The following is a general guide only; actual coverage is defined by each manufacturer’s written warranty.

Batteries

Battery warranties usually cover defects in materials or workmanship under normal usage. They typically do not cover:

  • Misuse, abuse, or incorrect installation

  • Overcharging, deep discharging, or chronic undercharging

  • Physical damage, impact, fire, flooding, or freezing

  • Sulfation, corrosion, contamination, or damage caused by additives

  • Use in applications that exceed the battery’s rated specifications

Battery life depends heavily on application, environment, and maintenance. In some cases, a battery may reach normal end of life before the end of the warranty term; this is not considered a defect.

Chargers, Jump Starters & Testers

These products are usually warranted against manufacturing and material defects. Warranty coverage is often void if:

  • The unit has been opened, altered, or repaired by an unauthorized party

  • The product has been used outside its specified voltage, load, or application

  • Terminals or leads have been repeatedly reversed or misused

  • The product has been exposed to conditions beyond those recommended by the manufacturer

Always follow the usage and safety instructions provided with the product to maintain warranty eligibility.

Power Conversion & Renewable Energy Products

This includes inverters, inverter/chargers, converters, and other power electronics. These warranties typically exclude damage resulting from:

  • Incorrect wiring, improper installation, or lack of commissioning checks

  • Insufficient ventilation, overheating, or blocked airflow

  • Electrical faults, power surges, and unstable input sources

  • Unauthorized modifications, repairs, or component changes

  • External events such as severe weather, lightning, accidents, or misuse

Cosmetic defects that do not affect performance are generally not covered.

Small & Specialty Products

For small accessories, specialty batteries, and certain consumable items:

  • Some products include limited performance warranties

  • Others are warranted only to be free from defects at the time of purchase

  • Many small, non-rechargeable batteries do not include extended performance guarantees

Refer to product-specific documentation or ask your CBWD representative for clarification.
